A mitten

I have got 2 colors of soft fiber. It was only 100 grams, but I spun for knit something.

The left is a fiber for practice. The center and the right bought newly.

 Even the same white is a little different in color....

　２色の柔らかい羊毛を紡いで毛糸を１つ作りました。

これはイギリスから届きましたが、羊の種類が書いてなくて質問もしなかったので、この柔らかさは何にあたるのか今になって気になります。

And 2 colors were 1 of yarn !

I moved to this house last year. Here is away from the center of Tokyo. 

It's cool for the severe heat of the summer in the room at a well ventilated house. A forest is close, the wind is also cold and pleasant. 

去年この家に越してきましたが、とても涼しい家で過ごしやすいです。都心から離れていて不便な場所ですが、風通しが非常によく気流ができて寒いくらいです。

森が近いせいか冷たい風も流れてきて、うちの猫ちゃんもベランダで昼寝がお気に入りです。

こうして夏でも羊毛を触れるという喜び。立地条件や住宅設計でこんなにも風の通りが違うのですね。そのうち私たちも家を持ちたいので、こんなふうに風通しの良い家がほしいものです。

I can't know whether you can imagine, but Summer of the south Japan is too hot including Tokyo. A person dies for its heat. 

It becomes so cool that you go to the north in Japan. but there are a lot of fun Shop in Tokyo and Kyoto,Osaka on the south side.

If you come to Japan someday, I wish that you choose good seasons.

And I have finished knitting a mitten !!

I counted many times, but I don't make a mistake in stitch. 

A clumsy mitten was made because my yarn was clumsy.  What delight !

I have to practice more :) 

　そうして、指なし手袋ができあがりました！まるで段や目を間違えているようにイビツなので何度か数えましたが、左右が違うように見える原因は私の毛糸です。ときどき極細、または極太、並太または極端に手縫い糸のようなサイズ不明な糸により、このような不格好な手袋ができてしまいました。。

編み物を目的として紡ぐ以上、サイズは命。やはり均一な毛糸が紡げるようになりたいです。

日々練習を怠らないようにしなくては、、

といってもやはり最初の作品！嬉しさでニマニマしておりまス

Red shiso dyeing

Hello  :)

I dyed yarn by a plant called "red shiso".  赤紫蘇で毛糸を染めてみました。

The left yarn dyed twice and the right yarn dyed 3 times. 

左が２回、右が３回染めた色です。

This dye uses anthocyanin included in a leaf or a petal.

And it is included in red shiso MUCH.

Even if there isn't this plant near you, you have flower including anthocyanin, vegetables or plant near you. If you get much, let's try the same way.

The citric is dissolve in hot water. 

leaf netting add ( see photo ), boiling 2-3 minutes. 

yarn add there, boiling again 2-3 minutes. 

cooling.

keep at a normal temperature for 4 days.

2 tbsp salt is added on the 2nd for mordant.

wash and dry

The color becomes dark by repeating this work*

Ingredients :

The citric 25g, red shiso 600g, for the wool of  200g.

My hand was dyed.

めやす：

２００gの毛糸に対して赤紫蘇２パック（６００g）、クエン酸１瓶（２５g）

＊やり方

少なめのお湯にクエン酸を溶かし、葉の部分だけを網に入れたものを加えて２〜３分煮る。
さらに毛糸を加え２〜３分煮て、冷ます。

そのまま常温で４日保存する。

ただし２日目に塩大さじ２、色止めとして加える。

洗い流して陰干しする。

何度もやることで色が濃くなりますが、同時に毛糸の質が悪くなっていくのが問題です。
綿やシルクが含まれている毛糸なら耐えると思います、ちょっと色々やってみる必要がありますね

１回染めただけの時は下の薄紫です。

When dyeing once, it was light in the color like this.

In the end, it was repeat 3 times and was soaked for 12 days total. so that soft wool became poor quality. This is a problem.
When dyeing repeatedly, silk or cotton are included in wool is better I think.

The color dyed twice 

The natural color is picked out, so It's necessary to put intention enough for metal. 

Keep by vessel glass, plastics or enamel. Attention is needed completely. 

but it would discolor with time. That's also the natural color.

これは自然の色で染めるため、逆に金属などは変色のもとなので十分に気をつける必要があります。

保存する時はガラス製、プラスチック、ホーロなどを使用して下さい

いつか洗う時にも洗剤には十分に気をつけて下さい
それでも色は変わるようですが、、それもまた自然の色でもありますから。

The color dyed 3 times 

Red shiso is selling it at a supermarket in June in Japan. About 150-250 yen ( 3 USD) for 1 pack (300g)

We sometimes make juice and it' good drink for hot summer. 

Recipe of juice :

Red shiso 300g , water 1.5 liter , lemon juice for 3,  sugar 300g-360g.

Everything is add to a pot. boiling 4-5 minutes. cooling. filter out.

The retention period is about 1 year in a refrigerator.

Summer is a wonderful season to dyeing !

Summer bag

I sewed a summerly bag with 50 cm of embroidery fabric. and the bamboo handle.

５０cmのハギレと竹の持ち手で、夏っぽいバッグを縫いました。

There is a person who makes the bamboo handle in Japan, so every stores of handicrafts are sold. The handle can't be broken easily.

Double jacket

Hello dear knitters :)
I wish that you enjoying beautiful spring or autumn !

I received this Australian yarn timberandtwine on the day when it snowed.

オーストラリアの毛糸でジャケットを編みました。
受け取った日は雪が降っていたので、それはもう何か暖かいものが欲しいと思いました。

The outside was cold,  I wanted to knit something warm.

まず最初に絵を描くのですが、おおよそのイメージであって、それと全く同じものが出来たためしがないです。私の場合、ほとんどが着ながら変更してしまいます。

下のデッサンでは襟１０センチしたからボタンバンドが始まるのですが、着てみたら胸元が寒かったので普通の襟と同じ位置で編みました。

どうぞ出来上がりと絵を見比べてみて下さい

First I draw a design, but that's a rough image.  Most makes alterations while knitting.
10 centimeters of buttonband starts from the collar on the design.
But when trying it on, it was cold..  so I changed it to up.

ボタンホールは編んだ後に開ける無理穴です。

革のボタンが良い感じになりましたね

I chose leather buttons, those match well.
and make a hole after knitting…. I don't know an English name of this buttonhole method.
beautiful hole doesn't open, but this is convenient.

My cat grew big like shoat.

Tokyo is warm already. 

I'm pleasant for autumn and winter coming after the hot summer !

Pottery market in Mashiko

We are in holiday of about 10 days, and went to a pottery market of Mashiko 益子 in Tochigi 栃木.

There is a lot of pottery kind in Japan.

Mashiko is  125 km on the Joban highway from Tokyo.
The market held consecutive holidays in May is very big, and it takes 1 day to see.

益子の陶器市に行って来ました。
益子焼はあまり有名ではないので、関東以外の方は知らないかもしれませんね。
とても大きな市がゴールデンウィークに開催されていて、１日では見きれないくらいです

The shade which repeated color many times is the feature for Mashiko pottery .

益子焼きの特徴はこの何度も塗り重ねた色合いでしょうか

Mashiko pottery can be broken easily, so it's necessary to be careful.
Even if it doesn't go well for your dish, flowerpot or vase would be a fun gift for you :)

Old book

Hello, good day !

Whether you prefer a "New", or whether you like "Old" like me...

I hit on a rare old book.
It was published 1922 and is Manual of sewing machine behind.

私は古本が大好きなんですが、
先日、大正１１年発行のミシン全書を見つけました。

Yes, It's written in Japanese :)

私のミシンも戦前ですので、こういった分厚い手順書が見つかって本当に良かったです。

This book is giving some machines for the world.

The generation changes, knowledge about them becomes rare..

部品がひとつひとつ丁寧に書かれているので時間があると見比べています。
時折調子が悪くなる箇所があるんですが、そこがまさに細かく乗っていました。

A mechanical part is written on this correctly, so I'll compare those.

The machine will be the quite easy make..

I like the one which moves without electricity.
Tokyo is full of electricity.
When those stops, Even door doesn't open, doesn't recognize our pass.

I'm interested in this shorts on the book.

Oh my English level, It isn't made translations.  but It's said "economical" about homemade.

この本も手にした以上、賢く利用させて頂きたいと思います。
