Dress with overskirt

 Hello , I sewed a basic dress .  It has elbow-length sleeves and is made of light wool, and a belt with same fabric, perfect for spring and fall.

A slight difference in the design brings it back to the 1960s.

 I also sewed a short sleeve dress using a light floral cotton fabric.

This paper pattern has an overskirt, and I didn't know what its purpose is, but I sewed it.

but choosing linen it looks like an apron !

And then I realized that the inside of the skirt is not transparent. An overskirt can be used as a slipdress. 

Butterick 2348

It's extremely hot. In the north of Japan, it used to be very cool even in summer, but now there are no cool places. Instead of fighting wars, shouldn't people think about growing lots of big trees and forests ?

Simplicity 3682

Hello dear, How are you doing ? This year, it seems like summer will come after winter. I've been taking a break from knitting and using my sewing machine a lot.  This is probably 1960's pattern...

 I sewed it without a collar.  and I Prefer to finish with side hook than back zipper.

Next, I removed the darts from the waist. It's a looser fit and more comfortable.

 Adding a belt will change the look.

There was a leftover fabric from the dress so I sewed a waistcoat with it for my husband. You look that I messed up the hem but it isn't noticeable when he wore it !  Also used the same scraps for the lining too.

There are something nice we can sew without even a meter or a yard :)

Five identical dresses

 I experimented by sewing several dresses from One pattern how they would differ.

This is the first dress I sewed. It's made of wool-based fabric, has three-quarter sleeves, Plastic Button, and is light and warm. It was May. 

This is linen fabric with puffed sleeves. I used metal German buttons.　It was June and the weather was starting to get hot. 

 July, air-conditioned. Sewn with double gauze. Very comfortable. Simple short sleeves, Shell Buttons.　No belt is used at the waist, elastic is sewn in.

It was August and extremely hot. Made of thin linen fabric and no sleeves. Gold colored buttons. It was cool and comfortable dress.

The skirt length was increased. (The garden is a jungle !)

And October. It's finally cooler season. The fabric is flannel, Thick plastic buttons, simple sleeves, I'd like to wear it with wool cardigan. 

 Then, I'm getting bored, to be honest.. There are no more photos. It was a good attempt that the same pattern can have a different look by changing the sleeve style and fabric, buttons and belt or elastic.

This sewing pattern is "Vogue 7615".  

And now I often wear the May dress.

Making a Time Capsule

 The first person to find this handmade doll thought "it seems like a lovely time capsule." I thought that idea is very nice, so I'm going to make a lot of clothes and complete the time capsule.  I wish, I hope that someday, somewhere, a child will find it, Or to reach an underprivileged little girl. 

Unfortunately, the patterns she(this doll)had were all unnecessary parts. But Now is the time to download :)  I sewed something using paper patterns I found on the internet. 

I learned that I can't sew like our clothes using the same steps. Look at this small collar ! I concentrated very much for it.

Another orange dress. This was a scrap fabric of my dress.

How old fashioned..  It's a shame that I can't create the latest fashion.. !! 

I'll post again when she has more clothes.

　この手作りの古い人形を最初に見つけた人が、タイムカプセルみたいだと思ったんですって。それがとても良いアイデアに思えたので、服をたくさん作ってそのタイムカプセルを完成させようと思いました。そして願わくば、いつかどこかで子供がそれを見つけますように、または恵まれない子供に届きますように。

　それで、さっそく色々と縫いましたが人間のような洋服の手順で縫えないのですね、小さな襟を作るのに一日がかりでした。ハギレで別のワンピースや裏地付きコートも縫いましたが、ヒップもウェストもない古風な人形で、そんなこと言ったらだめですね、これは私の腕の問題、最新ファッションを身にまとわせてあげたいです。また服が増えたら投稿するかもしれません。

Loose dress

  Hello Sunshine ! I don't know how you are spending, but I hope that you're enjoying something, and find something new time to time.

I sewn a summer dress with soft linen fabric. The dress is loose-fitting has dolman sleeves.

 Very cozy :) Added one button on the chest place. I maybe sew this again and change the skirt to an A-line.

The paper pattern release in 1979 from Vogue, No,7328.

　ざっと４０年前の型紙でワンピースを縫いました。軟らかいリネンの生地なのと、袖がドルマンスリーブで、ゆったりした快適な一着になりました。もう若くも細くもないのですが、海外の人が体型や年も気にせずに楽しんでいるのを見ると、私も気にしないで楽しみたいと思うようになりました。次にまたこれを縫う時はスカートを若干Aラインにしようと思っていましたが、こうして写真で見ると真っすぐでもイイかも？

Thread Stand DIY ideas

 When I was having trouble with many thread rolling around, hubby made a stand out of wood. 

Simple structure but convenient. 

Happy me, I asked him also make a darning mushroom stand.

No more chasing rolling mushrooms.

　ミシン糸が転がって困っていたら、主人がスタンドを作ってくれました。よく見ると単純な造りですがとても便利になりました。それならと、ついでに靴下の穴をふさぐマッシュルーム立てもお願いしました。これならもうキノコを追いかけなくてすみます。

Perfect mannequin

  This is a dress sewn at the end of summer. The pattern is "The Ellis & Hattie" of Merchant & Mills.  

　 I tell you it is very convenient to have own mannequin for sewing. ( It better to buy a small torso and fit it to our body shape. ) I chose the torso to fit my shoulder width. It's embarrassing to show, you can see my real size when the mannequin takes off the clothes. 

I padding cotton in bust, Hips, waist. Wrapped whit a slightly wider lace. This will make it easier to sizing when sewing a dress, coat, jacket, etc. Inside cotton is added or reduced when the size changes. 

　若い時はきゃしゃな体型をしていましたが、年とともにすっかりオババになりました。しかし本来の目的であるお楽しみは服を作って着ることですから、とくに問題はないのです。写真でおわかりのように胸やウェスト、ヒップにまで綿を詰めております。自分の体型と同じトルソーをお持ちになると、服作りのサイズ合わせのとき大変便利です。私の場合は肩幅でトルソーのサイズを決めました。お詰めになったお肉は幅広のレースや布で巻いておくと、サイズが変わったときに足したり引いたりが簡単です。

Dress with embroidery

I sewed the embroidered dress. 

Even if not good flower design , the dress will be a bit luxurious.

ちょっと前に刺繍入りでワンピースを縫いました。お花のデザインはたいしたことないですが、刺繍を入れることでワンピースが少しゴージャスになる気がしませんか？

It is better to decide the color and sketch for draft. because we repeat the same flower embroidery .

同じ花を何度も刺繍するので、たとえちゃんとした物でなくても、スケッチをして色を決めてしまうといいと思います。

どっちにしろ私には難しいのですが、なるべく省略しながらやると可愛く仕上がる気がします

It is not cute when trying to express faithfully. it seems better to omit a bit .

一から洋裁をしなくても、既製品にちょこっと刺繍してもよいと思います。ぜひやってみましょう

Summer bag

I sewed a summerly bag with 50 cm of embroidery fabric. and the bamboo handle.

５０cmのハギレと竹の持ち手で、夏っぽいバッグを縫いました。

There is a person who makes the bamboo handle in Japan, so every stores of handicrafts are sold. The handle can't be broken easily.

I cut the bottom roundly first.　丸く切るのに持ち手を利用、、

作り方を書いてみましたが、今日はお天気が悪くて写真も暗くて小さくて見えにくいですね、クリックすると少し大きく見れるかもしれません。ポケット１つに裏地はリネンを使いました。
