"Yomogi" dyeing

This herb "yomogi" is growing naturally all Japan. I don't know whether your country is seen.

Yomogi is medicinal herb. A leaf has a stanching action. A stomachache, the loose bowels and anemia get cold, decocting and drinking for tea of young green have the effect. There is also special effect in the fuzz of the back of the leaf.
bath of dry herbs( grew leaf in summer ) has the effect on lumbago and hemorrhoids.

There is resembles poisonous plant .  The back of Yomogi leaf is "white".

 But now the effect is earlier we get to buy medicine at a pharmacy or doctor.

A snack is also made with this herb in Japan. I think you don't like this cultural snack.

ヨモギで毛糸を染めました。

うちの母が「緑になるよ」と言ったので速攻試したのですが、思ったより渋い緑ですね。

草木染めはどれも薄〜〜い感じで、私は濃いめにと、今回も大量に摘んできましたが、何度やっても「これ以上は染まらない」限界があります。自然に出る色を利用するわけですから、柔らかい色味を楽しむところに良さがあるのですが。

染め終わった毛糸はヨモギの春の香りが少し残ります。

　染め方は一般的な煮染めです（ヨモギ染めについては日本語でググった方が丁寧な染め方が検索できると思います）

ヨモギ餅も作りましたので、１日がかりでしたが楽しかったです。

追記
都会育ちの方は見慣れないそうですが、葉の裏は白です。
自生しているのは比較的、水に近い場所です。（田んぼ、河川敷、川沿い）
摘むのは、草餅にして食べるなら桜の咲く前後が良いと思いますが、染めるのもGWだと葉が固くて指が痛くなりますので、今くらいが良さそうです。ただ生い茂っている葉の方が、色がもっと鮮やかに出そうな気がして気になるところでもあります。ぜひ色々と試してみてください

Avocado pits dying

アボカドの種で染めた毛糸（日本語は下の方にあります）

This is a result of my avocado pits dyeing.

Its color is elegant pink beige.

I collected the small pits about 30, There was about 600 grams of avocado pit for 100g wool.
I freeze pits or make them dry.

And on good day,
Chop pits up into little pieces, put in a pot with water and soak 1 night.
Boiling it for 1 hour, and soak 1 night again.

Liquid was dark chestnut 

Pre-wash and soak yarn in hot to warm water with pH-neutral soap.

liquid boil again, and boiling for 5 minutes including yarn.
cooling it for 30 minutes.
after squeezed lightly, soaked for 15 minutes in the mixture of aluminum and ammonia.
Wash with lukewarm water.
Those were repeated 3 times. Little by little the color became dark and didn't fall any more.
( ** This is general method of Japanese natural dying )

While cooling for 30 minutes, a "cooking seat" is covered.
Because when I dyed onion, the color became spotted. There is an inconsistency in the thickness.
If wool touches air, it's bad.

I wanted more dark pink, but I also like this color. Thread becomes dark by how dark the liquid is made.
I searched for some method on the Internet, There was also a way to soak in liquid with ammonia for 1 week from 1 day , but wool seemed to spoil and I couldn't do.
But it's worth trying it too. Metallic ion will be related and be the color beautifully by using ammonia and aluminum, and it don't discolored.
I also think the color is various by the kind of fabric by the kind of avocados.

　アボカド種の染め方をネットで調べると海外ので色々と出てきますが、私が実際にやってみたのを書き残しますね。
アボカドは毎日食べるとさすがに飽きてくるので、使う日が来るまで種を冷凍させるか、乾燥させておきます。（乾燥させると種がどす黒くなるのですが、あとの染料液に大きな違いはなかったです）

私が集めたのは100gの毛糸に対して、小さめなのが３０個以上、６００gくらいありました。実際には染めたいファブリックと同量の種でも良いようですが、色はもっと薄くなります。

種を細かく刻み、大きめの鍋にたっぷりの水を入れ一晩おいておきます。
次の日に１時間くらい煮て、また一晩おきます。
色は上の方にある栗色の液体がそれです。

染める毛糸は中性洗剤で洗って乾かしてあります。

染める日に染料液を沸騰させ、毛糸を入れ５分くらい煮ます。
火をとめて３０分冷却（放置）し、毛糸を軽く絞ってから焼きみょうばん（を入れて透明になるまで沸騰させた）液に１５分浸します。よくぬるま湯で洗います。
また染料液で５分煮ます、というその動作を３回しました。
やっていくうちに色が少しずつ濃くなり安定して、洗っても色落ちしなくなりました。
最後は染料液から取り出したのを、みょうばん液に浸さずによく絞って陰干しします。

刻んだ種を浸して一晩おく方法は海外の色んな人がやっていたのですが、あとの煮染めは日本の草木染めのよく見るやり方でやりました。決まりはないのでご自身の好きな方法でなされると良いと思います。

焼きみょうばんはスーパーで売っているものです、過去に玉ねぎの時に色落ちが激しかったので今回は２０％使いました。100gx0.2=20g

麻の布（オーガニックの白い麻だったと思います）を奇麗に桜色に染めてワンピースにしている素敵な方もいましたので、毛糸でなくても色々と出来ると思います。綿はそのままやると染まりにくいと思いますが。

また外国人がしているなかで、アンモニアを染料液に入れて毛糸を入れ１日から１週間おくとあって、それが濃いワイン色になるかもしれないようでしたが、私は毛糸が痛みそうで出来ませんでした。焼きみょうばんはアンモニアとアルミニウムとかの混合物ですから興味のある方はやってみるといいかもしれません。

お台所で出来ますヨ。

Flower motif

Hello friends, wishing you a beautiful day.

I designed a flower motif of Japanese apricot.
Did you see this flower ?
The petal is 5 and makes a flower bloom in cold February. There is a faint perfume.

This flower blooms in the snow. It's small and is pretty flower.

A problem with design of the crochet can't be calculated like knit work.

I write it on figure and make sure this.  ( A way using Excel would be better )

I was asking my sister for test crocheting now,  I wait it and change pattern or think that.
This is 1 of my projects of the free patterns.

Recommended to knit bag

I knitted this bag last year. I use it very often.  But the shape changes to nothing with 1 year before.
When I hold this bag on my lap, it's  very warm. It's for the 2nd bag or short walking.

This structure is linking a gusset to a front and back.

I sewed a strong lining. The Bamboo handle is sewn on lining.
Wool is a cover for the bag its most important.

I think It isn't better for handle to be wool, because it tends to develop.
Bamboo, wood, plastics, leather are preferred.

The one good for these knit bags is wool including acrylic fiber a little.
When selling it at handmade shop, goods can be offered inexpensively by cutting down the cost, so yarn should choose something of good quality inexpensively.

But If you knit 1 good bag for you,  I'd like to advance this "Moeke yarn".
That's very natural and strong , flick dirt and don't lose a little rain. It seem to take 1 sheep and walk together.

Someday I may be able to write my pattern here.

I study that to make pattern of English !

　去年このバッグを編んでから１年間よく使いました。

作り方は表と裏を別々に編んで、長細いマチを編んで繋げるだけですが、１番大事なのは強い裏地を選ぶことで、持ち手は裏地に縫い付け、ニットの部分はカバーのようにかぶせてあるところです。

ハンドルは伸びにくいことを考え、竹や革、プラスチックや木製が良いですが、持ち歩くことで雨風や雪にも当たりますから、ウールは少しアクリルが入ったものが良いと思います。

　販売を目的として編む時は、仕入れを安くすることで販売価格を下げて売ることが出来ますから、いかに質が良く手頃な毛糸を見つけるかが大事だと思います。

ただご自身用に何か考えて編みたいと思った場合は、こちらの毛糸 Moeke yarn をおすすめしたいです。糸は羊の毛そのもので、強くしなやか、少々の雨や雪など何でもないです。羊を１頭一緒に連れて歩くような感じです。

　私の方の編み図は（あまり大したことはないので誰でも作れそうですが）いつか英文パターンが作れるようになったら、日本バージョンも合わせて公開したいと思っています。全て無料の予定ですので、どうぞ気長にお待ち下さいませ。

Flower edging pattern for crochet

Do you remember that I knitted a blanket for a cat ?

I was crocheting some motifs during several months. Those wool was scrap.

This motif isn't my design. So it isn't possible to hand it to you.
But This edge is my small idea.

The pattern is put here, but that is Japanese-style, so I'm sorry.
( I know that a Japanese crochet pattern is international, so you can probably check it  )

For edging a blanket or snood etc.
And If you have a handmade shop, this is 1 of ideas for you.


Attention:
When connecting an edge , that isn't the same number of stitch as a motif.


　猫ちゃんのためのブランケットが出来上がったのは去年の秋でした。
中途半端に余った毛糸でモチーフを編んで作りました。

このモチーフは私のデザインではないので載せることが出来ないのですが、縁飾りの方は私の思いつきから作ったので載せました。上の方にある通りです。手書きで申し訳ないですが、たぶん合っていると思います。

モチーフを繋げたあとに縁飾りにしてもいいですし、ランチョンマットとかスヌードを編んだ時そのほか、色々と工夫次第で使えるかもしれません。
（ハンドメイドショップやフリーマーケット、バザー等のアイデアとしてもご自由にお使い下さいね）


注意：
モチーフと縁を繋ぐ時、それらは同じ目数ではないので注意して下さい。１つのモチーフにつき何目で繋いだらきれいに入るかを編んでみてから決めるといいと思います。（いくつ飛ばしでやるといいとか）

Men's shirt "Negroni"

I think the person who sees this page is little. The world seems only sewing almost for ladies.
But, If there is a man who loves around you, He'd be glad about your try certainly.

I sewed negroni shirt for my father-in-law's birthday.

He is very gentle and a quiet man in seventies and good father for my husband. I like when we speak, he's always laughing.

When it was revealed that he had dying cancer last year, I cried very much.
It's fearful to lose suddenly.
The medicine was working well, so progress of cancer stopped now..

 Size L

He is very thin, but a shirt fits well apparently.
And I'm happy that he is very glad :)
I hope that I'm able to sew a shirt next year too, for his.

I'm also sewing a shirt for my husband of course.  My man gets 1 every month new shirt.

I chose small buttons.

This pattern is easy to sew.

And he was also delighted this month.

一番上の薄いデニム生地は義父の誕生日プレゼントに縫いました。
紺色のは夫のです。
どちらも骨のサイズが同じなので太っている痩せているはともかく、同じ型紙が使えるので楽でした。そしてどちらもとても喜んでくれました。
