Thread Stand DIY ideas

 When I was having trouble with many thread rolling around, hubby made a stand out of wood. 

Simple structure but convenient. 

Happy me, I asked him also make a darning mushroom stand.

No more chasing rolling mushrooms.

　ミシン糸が転がって困っていたら、主人がスタンドを作ってくれました。よく見ると単純な造りですがとても便利になりました。それならと、ついでに靴下の穴をふさぐマッシュルーム立てもお願いしました。これならもうキノコを追いかけなくてすみます。

Beetle Magic sweater

 Are you knitting something even busy days ? I have just finished knitting a lovely sweater. It took 3 months, then I am happy  to wear it during the winter. 

I decided on green for beetle at first, it was fun to choosing what colors to use on the main color.

編みものしてますか？　カナブンのセーターを編みました。３カ月かかりましたが、冬の間にできてよかった、さっそく着ています。ビートルはカブトムシやカナブンなどの虫のことですが、黒にしちゃうと私の腕ではゴキに見えそうだったので、カナブン色にしました。メインカラーを茶系にしたので、まさに私が木、のようでございます。

Tea for headaches 頭痛の時のお茶

I hope that everything is fine with you and your family too. We had a good vacation, Hubby was busy making firewood and I spent a lot of time in the kitchen. We are happy to have plenty of firewood and fill our stomach with hot meal.

The daily life of working in front of computer has begun. My hubby often has headaches. Exercise is the best, but it's problem for hard walkers. I take herbs from the garden and often make tea for him.

Add boiling water to rosemary, mint, and sage. and add honey, and a little bit of ground ginger.  Effective for headaches. 

>> Mint and sage need defrosting and cover for snow, or put in the greenhouse. 

　お元気でお過ごしですか。私たちもお正月休みを満喫しました。夫は薪づくりに忙しく、私はほとんど台所にいましたが、薪がたっぷりあって温かい食事があるっていうのはなんとも幸せなことです。

それでパソコンの前で朝から晩まで仕事をする日々が始まったのですが、夫は頭痛もちで、運動をするのが一番いいのですが、なかなか難しいようです。よく作るお茶がありますので書き残します、頭痛に効くので薬を飲んでも効かない方ぜひお試しになってください。

ローズマリー、セージの葉、ミント、に熱湯を入れます、蜂蜜とすりおろした生姜を少し加えるといいです。苦みがあるのですが、楽になってきます、制限はないので量は適当で大丈夫です、ぜひお庭かベランダに常備しておくといいです。

＞＞ミントやセージは霜よけ、雪よけをなさってください。ローズマリーはマイナス９度くらいの霜ではなんともないですが雪はよくないので気を付けてください。温室があれば安心ですが。

Dye water blue 水色に染める

 Indigo dyeing is famous. and this plant "Kusagi" is the second plant that can be dyed blue in nature. Color is jade rather than blue.

クサギの実で水色に染めてみました。種とガクをわける作業が大変で、平安時代の人もやってたんだと思うとわくわくしましたが、一人ぼっちで３時間はさすがにため息のでる作業でした。100ｇのウールに対して130ｇの実がありました。
Gathering the seeds wasn't easy... 

Spent 3 hours alone in the small corner of the backyard. There were 130g of seeds for 100g of wool.

This dye does not mordanting, but seeds should be fresh. 

Bring to a boil with seeds and water, Add wool and simmer for 15 minutes, Cool, Rinse, and Dry in the shade.  I read that the color gets darker with each repetition.  This color is only dyed once. 

I think if there were three times as many seeds, the color would have been darker.

媒染が必要ないというので、そのまま種を入れて沸騰したら毛糸を入れて15分一緒に煮ました。冷まして軽くゆすぎ、脱水、陰干し。何度か繰り返すことで濃くなるそうですので、もうちょっと忍耐力があったら濃くなるかもしれませんが、それより３倍くらいの実を潰してぐつぐつやった方が濃くなるのではと思います。

Old book of 794 ~1191s have records of dyeing with this seeds, but the details are unknown. 

I read that the sepals of the flower can also be dyed. I tried it, but wool didn't absorb the color. There was certainly reddish- purple broth. so mordant may be necessary. 

じつはガクの方も赤紫色に染まる、と２つの本に記載されていたのでやってみました。結果まったく色を吸わなかったのですが、煮汁は確かに赤紫色をしたので媒染液を使った方がいいのかなと思いました。昔の人も詳しく書いてくれてたらね。

It's easier to find this tree's flower sepals and seeds are brightly colored in the fall and into countryside. still, the area where the tree grows is usually someone else's property and has snakes or wasps. When the season comes you might can buy it online shop. 

クサギは調べると臭いという情報が出てきますが、書いた人は嗅いだことがないのだと思います。臭木と書いても下品な匂いはしません。葉っぱは野生のフキみたいなニオイで、ちぎると何か匂いますが、なんだかわかりません。煮ている時は漢方薬のにおいがしました。派手な色をしているので秋になると見つけやすいですが、誰かの私有地であること以外にも蛇だのオオスズメバチだのいるような場所で育っていることが多いので、散歩好きな田舎の年配の方に頼むと要領よくとってきてくれると思います。でも最近は時期になるとオンラインでも売っているみたいですね。実が潰れるとすぐ青い汁がでます、新鮮な方がよいと読みましたが、乾燥してしまった実も湯の中で膨らんで青くなりましたよ

Pixie hat 小人の帽子

 I finished a hat.

The yarn I used was a gift from my friend. She and I have been in touch for 8 years now, but due to circumstances in her country, we can no longer email each other.

She sent me enough yarn to knit a sweater. However I fancy knitting various small knits, cause I might be able to feel her everywhere by using them. and I just hope she is safe and never in danger.

This hat name is " Fuzzy pixie hood" Pattern by Fabel knitwear. It is covers ears without crush the bangs, and pretty convenient. 

　お友達がくれた毛糸で帽子を編みました。セーターを編めるくらいの量を送ってくれたのですが、小さい物をいくつか編んで使うことにしました。彼女とは８年もやり取りしていたのですが、お国の事情でとうとう連絡が取れなくなってしまいました。いつもいる人の安否が急にわからなくなるのは不安で仕方がないです。もらった毛糸から彼女を感じるのがまた悲しいのですが、無事を祈りながら大事に使おうと思います。パターン名は 「Fuzzy pixie hood」 Fabel knitwear　前髪がぺちゃんこにならず耳が隠れるので暖かくて便利です。

その後、彼女とは連絡が取れるようになりました。学校の先生をしていて色々あるのですが、穏やかに過ごしてくれることが私の願いです。世界が平和になりますように

Triangle Vest for men 三角形のメンズベスト

 Hello my dear friend, I hope you are doing well. The fire wood stove season has arrived here. and I have finished knitting a vest for hubby. I liked the pattern with a lot of triangles in. 

In order to omit the sewing process of the front and the back, I used a circular needle.

Hubby was very pleased. I sewed that jacket too :)

The pattern is from the book of 1930s "Family knitting".  I didn't choose the sharpness of the waist to make modern.  

When using a circular needle like me, chose a number that is divisible by 4 and 6. In my case, cast on 252 sts for Chest 38 ins. Used UK 9,11 needles and needed just 200g of socks yarn. 

秋めいてきましたがお元気でいらっしゃいますか？こちらは薪ストーブに朝晩と火が入る季節になりました。それで主人のベストを１枚、さっそく編みあげたところです。よく見ると三角形がたくさん入って、シンプルながら素敵なパターンです。英文ですが拡大したので興味のある方はぜひどうぞ。

写真でもわかるように脇の縫い合わせを省略して輪針で編みました。それと３０年代の編み図なので、現代風にするためにウェストをまっすぐな形にして編みました。これ、サイズを小さくして男の子用にしても可愛いんじゃないかなと思います。私のように輪にする場合は縫い代を４目単純に引きたいところですが、模様がぴったり合うように４と６で割り切れる目数にして下さい。針は日本棒針で５と３号を使い、毛糸は靴下用のをぴったり２００ｇ使いました。サイズはＬくらい、胸回り約97cmになります。主人が着たところ写真に撮りましたがジャケットもそういえばで私の手作りです。思ったより喜んでいましたよ。よかったよかった
